Dr. Robert Danin Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, responsible for Arab-Israeli negotiations policy and strategic planning. Served at the White House/National Security Council as Director for the Levant and Israeli-Palestinian affairs and then as Acting Senior Director for Near East and North African Affairs. Served on Secretary of State Powell’s Policy Planning Staff, where he was responsible for Middle East and Gulf issues. Previously served as a senior political analyst in the State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research. He has been a visiting scholar at Georgetown University’s Institute for the Study of Diplomacy and at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Holds a doctorate in International Relations from Oxford University and a master’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
