A quantitative comparison was done between the achievements of Israel and the OECD nations.

Israel's achievements were compared to Western nations in all of Europe (Southern as well as Eastern). Current candidate nations awaiting acceptance to entry are among others: Chile Estonia, Israel and Russia (which does not meet the economic standards, but is a candidate due to its vast power).

Israel's economic achievements do not fall short of the achievements of other developed nations. That being said, it is apparent that Israel has an advantage over the Eastern European states. The GDP per capita in Israel during the year of 2006 was higher than any of these nations, and according to the available data, Israel's entry into the OCED technically could have already occurred.

The social indices show that Israel is at a disadvantage when compared to all of the other nations, and that there is a pattern of decline in Israel

As far as life expectancy is concerned, Israel is ahead of many nations, even the Scandinavian nations. Russia, on the other hand, stands out as the nation with the shortest life expectancy.

Israel unfortunately is the leader of nations as far as inequality, especially when compared to the European and Scandinavian nations.

In the realm of politics and government – there has been a clear weakening in Israel between the years 2001-2003 in comparison to other nations.

In conclusion, in terms of the OECD standards, Israel must improve its political sphere, although the majority of other indices show that Israel is worthy of joining the organization. Israel, therefore, must be aware of her issues and improve on her weaknesses.
