Amb. Itzhak Levanon

Ambassador Levanon served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for the State of Israel, to the Arab Republic of Egypt (2009-2011), and before as Ambassador extraordinary to the United Nations in Geneva. An eyewitness of the Egyptian revolution which toppled the regime of Mubarak,he lived the transitional period of the rule of the militaries Until the rise of the Moslem Brotherhood into power. A veteran diplomat,Ambassador Levanon entered the field of public Service in 1969 as assistant to the legendary mayor of Jerusalem, Teddy Kollek.he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1972 and served in various positions and capacities,at the UN in New York,Venezuela,Colombia, France, Canada,and new England,USA. He took part in the peace talks in WashingtonDC following the Madrid conference for peace in the Middle East.subsequently he was member Of the Israeli team to the monitoring group in Lebanon.later he became Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry to the Arab world. Ambassador Levanon studied at the Hebrew University,McGill University,and International College at the American University in Beirut. He holds certificates of honor from ,among others,Massachusetts Congress,Rhodes Island Congress,Bn'ai Brith International,Hadassah International,and the fiends if the Technion.an orientalist by education,Ambassador Levanon was born in Beirut( Lebanon) and speaks fluently five languages,English ,French,Arabic,Spanish and Hebrew. Actually ,he is a lecturer at the Lauder school of Government,Diplomacy and strategy at the Interdisciplinary center(IDC), hertzeliya and Senior research associate at the Center for counter terrorism(ICT) hertzeliya Member of the international advisory committee of the Institute for policy and strategy(IPS) and a Middle East commentator in the television broadcast I 24 News In three languages.
